Margot Kat of Rootfolk does extensive research in nature on different levels. She integrates this research into her creative practice which eventually leads to her tablescapes and her art work. Her art is a necessary first expression of her research and of the stories of nature that she likes to share. In her creative practice, she researches and experiments with natural forms and the material properties of clay. Some of the art works are 'the mother' of her tablescape collections, sometimes it works the other way around. Some never leave the dimension of art.
Her work evolves around themes like origin, connection and growth.
