Collection: Amazon white porcelain
Create your own table rituals and use the diversity of forms for sharing your food.
'Amazon' refers to the multitude of shapes and textures in the tropical rainforest and the rituals and customs of its inhabitants. Margot Kat of Rootfolk lived and worked in Suriname from 2016 to 2019. Moved by the constant 'explosion' of life in the plant kingdom around her, Margot explored new forms and textures within her recurring themes of 'Growth, Origin and Connection'. The rituals and customs of the indigenous inhabitants also inspired her. In Suriname, she worked with red clay, mined directly from the earth, and ritual white local earth (Pemba).
Back in the Netherlands, the handcrafted art and utility objects merge in color and material with her existing 'Roots Table Landscapes'. The white porcelain version is 'painted' with hand-merged pigments.
